granddogs Niko (was put to sleep on the death of my mother, Alaskan Malamute; her other dog, Phoebe (Siberian Husky); my son's family dogs - Axel (Boston Terrier) and Diesel (Boxer).

About Me:

I can't have a dog because of my husband's health -- he has terminal cancer.

What is one thing your dog does that reminds you to open your heart and love more deeply?

Phoebe (my granddog) loved me at my daughter's memorial service because I talked to her like my daughter always did. She loves my husband very much.

I have and have had many granddogs. Three have pssed on - Bo, Angus and Niko; three remain - Phoebe, Axel and Diesel. When I was with Phoebe after my daughter's memorial service I found the peace of mind I had been searching for over the days between my daughter's sudden death and her memorial service. Phoebe holds a sacred place in my heart. One of my friends is a veterinarian, the other rescues dogs. Our main topic of conversation was the love of dogs that we have. We talked about the ones we have lost over the years. The great companionship and loyalty our pets have given us. Our pets do help us in the most toughest situations.
