Hi Peggy, Your dogs are beautiful. I'm old enough to have lost several dogs to old age and disease and it always hurts, but I know I did everything to give them a good and loving life while they were here. Just remember the love they give you back..The old saying is true.."It's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all."
Hey Peggy. I thank you for sharing!
It is certainly one of the most difficult things to watch that four legged wonder of loyalty and love show signs of age or illness. But they have been there for us and reguardless of the ills and pills, you know you'll be there until the last and your heart continues on even after that. Sounds like Gidget and family have all of your love and caring and couldn't be happier.
Hi Peggy,
I know what it is all about to have a 15 year old doggie. My Louie just turned 15 and he too is struggling quite a bit at times. He's sleeping more than anything. Up until about 2 weeks ago his appetite was huge. Now it is getting less and less. We live in a bi-level home and he can't walk down the stairs so my husband and I carry him. Sometimes he can walk up, but it's becoming more and more rare. Louie is a soul mate for me. I love him so much. He can still see ok, his hearing isn't what it used to be, but he can still hear some. He is a standard poodle - so he's not the smallest dog around. I was really happy last night because he ate some of his dinner and also some treats. I told my husband that Louie is on Hospice - comfort measures - he gets anything he wants! I hope you have a nice weekend. Barbara, Kent, Louie III, Lucy Girl and Little Miss Tillie.
